Nepal’s National AI Olympiad

The Artificial Intelligence Olympiad of Nepal (AION) is Nepal’s national competition for students in artificial intelligence. It identifies and selects the country’s top AI talent through a multi-stage competition, with the highest-performing students earning the opportunity to represent Nepal at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI).

What AION runs

We publish the syllabus and competition guidelines, run every stage of the national selection process, and select the top-performing students to represent Nepal on the global AI Olympiad stage.

What it costs

Nothing to start. Round 1 is completely free, fees apply from later stages.

How the team is chosen

On merit alone. Through multiple rounds : preliminary, provincial, and final. Open to every eligible student in Nepal.

Selection process

The AION Selection Journey

AION follows a structured national selection process to identify Nepal’s strongest student talent in artificial intelligence. Participants advance through multiple competitive stages, with the top performers earning the opportunity to represent Nepal on the world stage.

    Create your AION account, complete the required information, and register for the current selection cycle.

  2. 2

    Round 1 : Preliminary Round - Online

    31 Oct 2026

    The first competitive stage of AION, conducted online and open to eligible students across Nepal. Participants are assessed on the knowledge and skills outlined in the official AION syllabus.

  3. 3

    Round 2 : Provincial Round

    TBA

    Top-performing participants from the Preliminary Round advance to an in-person competitive round conducted at the provincial level. Further details, including locations and dates, will be announced before the round.

    Round 3: National Final

    TBA

    The highest-performing participants advance to the National Final in Kathmandu, where they compete for selection to Team Nepal.
